Reflective Analysis, Evaluating my social media posts as a creative strategist
As a millennial I understood the importance of social media especially being a teenage during the infancy of Facebook. From witnessing the world from transitioning from delayed traditional media viewed on TV or physical copy newspapers that often had a bias and leaned towards one side of an agenda to receiving news instantly on a computer giving the user the freedom to select their own preferences on how they wanted to consume news.
But we are talking about 2009 here before iPhones became popular and setting in the new tone for the general consumer to have a smart phone, this is when blackberry was a thing. Fast forward to 2026 where Apple has released the iPhone 17 going into the iPhone 18 later this year and where everyone has already made the transition from Nokia and Blackberry to smartphones like the iPhone or an Android OS device and Facebook isn’t the social media of preference where now it is TikTok, X and Instagram.
As the creator of Zadcast I understood the importance of reaching out to people who are millennials like myself while maintaining relevancy with the new generation (Gen Z) adapting from Facebook to Instagram and TikTok and learning the algorithm as the algorithm can be perceived as a sort of marker for relevancy knowing what people want to watch, hear and consume on their for “For You Page” (FYP) and cater to that algorithm. That is why I chose Soundcloud for my website as it is a free and accessible audio streaming site that people can use while keeping my listeners up to date through my instagram by posting three images. My first post on instagram is my logo as I wanted to make my followers aware that I have created a podcast where my second instagram post is a reel with a 15 second audio recording of my podcast to intrigue people to become new listeners to my podcast and my third instagram will be a short quote from my podcast.
For my Podcast I choose Sports. as sports has been consumed throughout history from the first olympics in Ancient Greece to social movements during the probation era within the United States where Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali and other athletes of colour showing that sports can transcend from scores on a score board into a peace movement to modern day sports where some athletes are worth more then CEOs due to their outreach from the popularity of their sports for example Michael Jordan was the first ever athlete to become a billionaire due to his accolades in the NBA (basketball) and establishing himself in some peoples eyes as the greatest NBA player of all time making him extremely marketable as kids wanted to wear Michaels infamous number 23 Chicago bulls jersey and play like him and Nike capitalised on Michael Jordan and basketballs outreach to the wider mass.
I wanted to make the first episode of The Zadcast about the country of Saudi Arabia and its public investment fund (PIF) and the impact the country is having to consumers using social media by talking about Cristiano Ronaldo’s new contract extension and how Cristiano is the most followed person is on instagram with 600 million plus followers to the controversy of a Saudi Arabias new golf tournament LIV Golf going against the grain and throwing the rule book out compared to the prestigious and traditional golf tournament known as The PGA.
As a huge sports fan myself, I understood the importance of consuming sports through social media by watching on YouTube, Tiktok, Facebook and Instagram, receiving instant results and instant access to sport.
